According to Uzbekistan News Network reported on November 28, from November 23 to 27, U.S. Foreign Minister Kamilov led a government delegation to conduct a working visit to the European Union headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. The two sides focused on increasing the list of imported goods from the EU. In exchange for views, the EU agreed to provide Uzbekistan with an additional unilateral trade preferential customs tax rate under the general tariff preference system, and plans to expand the duty-free goods in the list of commodity categories from the current 3,000 to more than 6,200.
During the visit, Foreign Minister Kamilov held a meeting with the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Mogherini, European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Mimicha, Austrian Foreign Minister Kneiss, and Belgian Foreign Minister Ryan Dess. The 14th meeting of the Ukrainian Cooperation Committee and the regular meeting of the "Central Asia-EU" cooperation mechanism, including bilateral political, diplomatic, economic and trade, humanities, education and training, medical care, Central Asian-EU mechanisms, and the Afghan peace process. Cooperation and exchange of views, agreed to visit Uzbekistan in 2019, negotiate a new Ukrainian partnership agreement, and sign an assistance agreement on cooperation in agriculture and the judiciary. The EU highly values the status quo of reforms in the Ukrainian field and expresses its support for Uzbekistan to join the WTO.
